AHREMAN’s We Cherish The Fallen is a compact, weighty three-track statement of UK post-metal/sludge intensity.

This London trio (Dean Henfrey, Lehel Makfalvi, Paul Kitchener) channels the crushing atmospheres of Amenra and Cult of Luna into dense, riff-driven dirges that prioritize mood and momentum over flash. The EP builds on the brooding foundation of their earlier single “Spine of the Whale,” delivering sustained heaviness with ambient undercurrents and a sense of ritualistic gravity. Production is raw yet clear enough to let the low-end grind and sparse, echoing spaces breathe; the mix keeps the guitars thick and the drums thunderous without sacrificing dynamics.

Vocals sit in that post-metal sweet spot—harsh, barked, and partially buried in the wall of sound—serving texture more than melody. The tracks unfold patiently: slow-burn openings swell into monolithic riffs, then recede into quieter, almost meditative passages before the next wave hits. Themes of loss, memory, and endurance (hinted at by the title) feel earned rather than forced, giving the short runtime a cohesive emotional arc.

At roughly EP length it never overstays its welcome. There are no radical genre twists, but the band’s commitment to atmosphere and crushing repetition is effective. Fans of European post-metal will recognize the DNA immediately and appreciate the focused execution. We Cherish The Fallen positions AHREMAN as a promising underground voice—heavy, deliberate, and worth following as they expand beyond these three tracks.
