Tommy Stewart (Negative Wall)

This time around we feature the vinyl collection of Tommy Stewart, bassist and vocalist in the Atlanta based band Negative Wall.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

The Beatles “Help!” movie soundtrack. I was 7 so it was my life time savings and it was worth every dime I saved in a Lucky the Dalmatian piggy bank.

The record that made me want to make music was…

Same one. I knew right then and there I was going to play music and not be an astronaut, remember I’m talking second grade here.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

There are many I find myself returning to repeatedly for life. I could say one was Black Sabbath Volume IV.

The record that always make me feel good is…

“Winter” by Oceans of Slumber.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

‘Ummugumma’ by Pink Floyd.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Gammagelu by Negative Wall and the artist is Jeff Grimal. Or Doombanomicon by Gabe McIntosh. This is a rough question as well! The new Doomstress cover is fantastic too!

The strangest LP I own is…

The History of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. They only existed in the late sixties, never really popped in a big way, specialized in remakes of 1920’s records or mocking them, and one of them, Neil Innes, went on to write the silly songs in Monty Python movies. See “Knights of the Round Table” and “Brave, Brave Sir Robin”.

The rarest LP I own is…

Maybe the Metallica ‘Kill ‘Em All’ I have because it’s Megaforce and an early version with a black n white credits and lyrics on one side and a merch order form on the other side. I’ve got quite a few earlier metal albums that I bought first print when they came out.

Negative Wall’s latest album, Gamagelu, was released on February 8, 2019. You can purchase it on limited edition vinyl, CD or digital download here.
