The first record I ever bought with my own money was…
I believe the first album I ever bought on CD with my own money was Marilyn Manson – Holy Wood. I’d had albums before that but that took pride of place after I’d saved up for it. Manson back then was a parent’s nightmare under the impression it was going to send their kids down some odd path, but I didn’t feel like that when I heard it. A lot of comfort came out of that album as an 11 year old that wasn’t quite as chuffed with life as everyone else seemed to be.
The record that made me want to make music was…
I wouldn’t be able to put one single record down for this. My taste in music is pretty broad and I seem to be on a constant rotation through genres and regularly discover album that make me want to continue playing music. Example of some of those over the years would be Oasis – (What’s the Story) Morning Glory, Metallica – Kill Em’ All, Rancid – Let’s Go, Superjoint Ritual – Use Once and Destroy, Down – Nola, Eyehategod – Take as Needed for Pain, Morphine – Cure for Pain and Cock Sparrer – Here We Stand.
The record I’ve played more than any other is…
Motorhead – Inferno (first listened to on a school trip to Malham Cove at 15 years old). That record started my Motorhead obsession, specifically the track “In The Name Of Tragedy.” Even when I hear that song now I want to go mental.
The record that always make me feel good is…
Again I couldn’t put this down to one record, but pretty much any Motorhead or Rancid record will do it. If I was forced to choose I would say Motorhead – Overkill and Rancid – Rancid (2000). That Rancid record has some absolute bangers on it.
The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…
Sun Kil Moon – Among The Leaves. Any Mark Kozelek is going on if I’m down and just want to sit in the dark with a whiskey. He seems to either be evolving or trying something new recently and while I still enjoy it, I find myself revisiting Among The Leaves more than any other album with the song “That Bird Has a Broken Wing” being a highlight for me.

Marilyn Manson’s Antichrist Superstar always had me opening the CD case to look at the artwork over and over.
The strangest LP I own is…
Bruce Willis – The Return of Bruno. I do not know why or how this has come in to my possession.
The rarest LP I own is…
I don’t really keep track of what’s rare and what isn’t as I’m not planning on getting rid of them at any point. If I had to guess I would say my Motorhead – Motorhead red vinyl on big beat records.
The last LP I bought was…
I have just ordered Amenra – Mass VI. Unreal band and definitely a band for vinyl.
