Dan Rivera (Crucible of Hate)

Crucible of Hate

This time around we feature the collection of Dan Rivera, bassist and lead vocalist for the Ohio based band Crucible of Hate.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here

The record that made me want to make music was…

Technically this would have been some cassette tape I owned as a kid. But since we are talking vinyl, and because I own a copy, I’m going to say Opeth – Blackwater Park.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

Probably Tool – Aenima, though Opeth – Damnation also spends a lot of time on the turntable.

The record that always make me feel good is…

Florence and the Machine – Lungs. I play this album and my three-year-old old daughter and I dance to it in the living room.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Anathema – Alternative 4. Because when you’re feeling the pain, it’s best to listen to the most gut-wrenching, emotional album you can find.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Hard to pick just one, but Meshuggah’s latest album The Violent Sleep of Reason has some seriously badass cover art!

The strangest LP I own is…

Strange as in something someone wouldn’t expect me to have? Bjork – Homogenic. Strange as in just odd music? Rishloo – Feathergun

The rarest LP I own is…

My original 1971 pressing of Pink Floyd – Meddle

The last LP I bought was…

2018 reissue of Gojira – From Mars to Sirius in white vinyl.
