Christopher Fenimore (The World Without Us)

In this offering, we get up close and personal with Christopher Fenimore, lead guitarist in the West Chester, Pennsylvania based progressive metal band The World Without Us.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

The first record that I ever bought was Black Sabbath’s Paranoid. I bought it from a local Goodwill to spin on my Mum’s old-ass cabinet record player.

The record that made me want to make music was…

That would have to be Queen’s News of the World. Listening to Brian May rip on that guitar still gives me the chills to this day.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

My prized possession is Iron Maiden’s Live in Japan. It was a great unexpected find in a local record store in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and I’ve been playing it constantly since.

The record that always make me feel good is…

I would have to say Songs from the Big Chair by Tears for Fears. I can’t get enough of that sax! The whole concept behind the album is amazing and lately it’s been my go-to when I’m sitting around, grilling out back, and just generally chilling out.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Coheed and Cambria’s No World for Tomorrow. The album takes you through a lot of ups and downs and has a some real emotional dynamics. It builds you up and knocks you and rescues you again: something I really enjoy when my own emotions are feeling a little flat.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Boston’s first record with the epic spaceship is a cover that’s always stuck with me. It was a design I saw a lot as a kid but had never listened to. When I finally heard the album I was blown away (especially when I found out it was recorded in the dude’s basement).

The strangest LP I own is…

Herbie Mann and Tamiko Jones A Man and a Woman. That album cover…

The rarest LP I own is…

For Life’s Forsaken Existence. It’s from a local hardcore band and was a gift to me when I got my first record player I could call my own.

The last LP I bought was…

Pelican’s Forever Becoming and Kiss’s Love Gun.

The latest album from The World Without Us, Incarnate, was released on October 25, 2019. It is available for download from The World Without Us Bandcamp page.
