The Signal In The Signal began with a minimalist bass and drum pattern recorded live by Angela and Aidan, to which Kristin, channelling Tony Conrad’s “Outside the Dream Syndicate,” added viola parts. The other players added their parts in separate sessions, building up the album into a longform piece of hypnotic spacerock.
