Former Mötley Crüe guitarist returns with first music since split with longtime band.
Icon Mick Mars has released his debut solo single, “Loyal to the Lie.” It’s the guitarist’s first music since his headline-making acrimonious split with Mötley Crüe, and it’s the first taste of Mars’ forthcoming solo album, The Other Side of Mars.
“I wanted to do something that was just big and mean,” Mars commented. “People are going to hear my tone — my sound. I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I’ve got a limited number of years. So, I’m gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff.
“When it comes to my playing, there’s the Mötley side and the Mars side. Either way, I always have a very clear vision of what I want to do.”
The guitarist’s solo album features vocalist Jacob Bunton, bassist Chris Collier, Winger and former Alice Cooper keyboardist Paul Taylor as well as Korn drummer Ray Luzier. Singer Brion Gamboa contributes to two tracks.
The Other Side of Mars is due out February 23rd via Mars’ own label, 1313 LLC.
