In this offering, we are very pleased to get up close and personal with Mike McGinnis. Mike runs the Philadelphia based label Knife Hits Records. He has also played/is playing in a plethora of bands, including Fight Amp, Low Dose and Rid Of Me.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

Having a little trouble jogging my memory here but for vinyl it may have been the Orchid – Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! 10”. My first physical album was probably Soundgarden – Superunknown on cassette.

The record that made me want to make music was…

Another deep memory dig… it had to be something like Nirvana or Black Flag or Dead Kennedys … but I think I can final answer with Rage Against The Machine self titled (though it was a cassette tape at the time and I’m way more into Evil Empire these days). I was making music for a long time before I was vinyl collecting, but if we’re going strictly vinyl my parents copy of Sabbath – Paranoid probably pushed me along a bit

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

For vinyl probably Talking Heads – Remain In Light. I prefer Fear Of Music but Remain In Light has been in my collection for longer. All formats… probably my Nirvana – In Utero cassette.

The record that always make me feel good is…

36 Chambers

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

To bring me further down or back up? Haha. Neil Young – Harvest. Little bit of both.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Unwound – Repetition

The strangest LP I own is…

Clash Of The Titans soundtrack

The rarest LP I own is…

I don’t pay very close attention to rarity but Cherubs – Heroin Man seems pretty hard to come by these days

The last LP I bought was…

Been mostly buying cassettes, picked up Crypto Order – The Age Of Demoralization a couple weeks back. I think my most recent vinyl LP was Clock Of Time – Pestilent Planet.
