In this offering, we are very pleased to get up close and personal with Ben Marvelli from the New York based band Viserion.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

The first record I bought would be South of Heaven by Slayer. I remember being in a record store with my brother and I saw it for $12 or so and just said fuck it that would be cool to have on vinyl. That was the start of my collection

The record that made me want to make music was…

When I heard Master of Puppets by Metallica I knew I had to start making music. Especially once I heard Orion I knew then and there I needed to try and make something as cool as that.

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

It would have to be The Harvest Floor by Cattle Decapitation. For some reason, this album just sounds the best on vinyl to me. Once I heard it compared to the streaming version I was obsessed with listening to it on my record player.

The record that always make me feel good is…

Anytime I listen to Opeth it puts me in a better mood. Just listening to any of their albums and really dissecting the transitions and subtle layers they have in their tracks is inspirational.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

I don’t know if I have any in particular but Alcest latest album Spiritual Instinct has been a go to for me lately

The record with my favorite cover art is…

Artificial Brain Infrared Horizon has my favorite artwork. Its such a simple concept but the artist captured the feeling of it perfect

The strangest LP I own is…

Probably the Halo: Combat Evolved soundtrack

The rarest LP I own is…

I have Storm Corrosion by Storm Corrosion

The last LP I bought was…

The last one I bought would be Conduit by Proscription. This is an amazing record that I highly recommend. I was excited to find it.

Viserion’s latest album, Natural Selection, was released on August 13, 2021. It is available on CD and digitally here.
