Adam Lewis (Burial Party)

This time around we feature the collection of Adam Lewis, drummer in the Fort Wayne Indiana band Burial Party.

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

Iron Maiden- Somewhere In Time

The records that made me want to make music was…

Metallica – Kill ‘Em All
Slayer – Reign In Blood
Anthrax – Among The Living.

I was a total 80’s thrash kid!

The record I’ve played more than any other is…

Misfits – Collection 1, Descendents – Milo Goes To College, Ramones – All The Stuff And More Vol 1 and 2 (Basically, the first 4 Ramones records – this was actually on CD, and was one of the first CDs I ever bought,) Danzig 1 and 2, and Minor Threat – Complete Discography CD.

The record that always make me feel good is…

Avail – Dixie.

This was my introduction to Avail, and will always be my favorite. I saw them live for the first time around ’94 or ’95 in Indianapolis, and that show had a huge impact on me. Show was packed, seemed like 20 people were onstage at any one time (band and fans,) and it was just an amazing time. Avail shows are still some of my favorite live performances I have ever seen.

The record I turn to when I’m feeling down is…

Fugazi – In On The Kill Taker. This was my introduction to Fugazi, but I could easily trade out any of their albums, especially the early ones, as favorites. Amazing, intelligent, and innovative music and lyrics, the band took an ethical stance in pretty much everything they did, etc.

The record with my favorite cover art is…

KISS – Destroyer, Iron Maiden – Live After Death, Voivod – Dimension Hatross

The strangest LP I own is…

Pac-Man Fever LP, Anton Lavey – The Devil Speaks and Plays, Fat Boys – s/t album – pizza picture disc which came in a Fat Boys pizza box, The Elephant Man soundtrack (one of my favorite films ever, and the soundtrack is amazing, filled with creepy circus-esque music,) and the Mac Sabbath coloring book with Flexi disc single inside!

The rarest LP I own is…

Motorhead – No Remorse – Leather bound double LP. Not really sure how “Rare” it is, but I always found it to be pretty unique, and I’ve never seen another. I bought it for like $5 in some used bin in the 90’s when no one gave a shit about records.

The last LP I bought was…

Skeletal Remains – Condemned To Misery.

I’m not really into a lot of recent metal, mostly because I hate the over-production, computer-y drums that sound like fucking typewriters, etc. I like what these guys do- very early 90’s death metal sounding, drums that sound like drums, etc. I have seen them live twice in the past year, opening for “bigger” bands, and I have really enjoyed their performances each time, and to me, they kinda blew many of the other bands playing those nights away.
